Saline Fair Board Eyes Governor Visit During Four Day Fair
The Saline Community Fair Board met at Saline Area High School and reviewed committee plans to maintain the fair’s high standing. President Raymond Girbach led the session as the board unanimously invited Governor G Mennen Williams to attend during the Sept 29 to Oct 2 event at the high school grounds. Superintendent Leo Jensen signaled use of school facilities and the O E S accepted operating the main food stand, with Don Burmeister heading the poultry department seeking volunteers or support.

Albert Gall of Saline was elected president of the Washtenaw County Milk Producers Local at their annual meeting in the Ann Arbor Farm Bureau Store on Thursday August 26. Delegates to the State Convention in November at Hast Lansing were chosen. members urged dairymen to submit resolutions to Carl Geiger in Ann Arbor. Polio Drive Wins Hearts At School Ice Social
At the high school ice cream social children donate saved coins to the polio drive. Little Roger Hamlin, aged four or five, offered 30 pennies to the ticket cashier after asking that the money aid polio victims. A group of girls raised over $2 from a play last July and gave the profits, with others like Nancy Shhild contributing $1.46 saved from a summer camp.

Saline Mill Theater Wraps Up Summers Play Season
Saline Mill Theatre ends the 1954 season this Saturday September 4 with The Ladies Not For Burning marking its Michigan premiere on August 17. The company presented four plays in ten weeks with high attendance and several runs extended. Plans are set for a 1955 season as Saline merchants and townspeople supported the venture.

Reckless Driver Forces Two Saline Motorists Off Road
W K Theurer and Kenneth Schultz escaped injury when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line on U S 112 near Marion Rd during low visibility at 12:30 am Friday, forcing both cars off the road. Theurer’s 1951 Ford and Schultz’s 1951 Buick were damaged by mail box contact and a 75 foot fence, and the at fault driver fled the scene.
