Saline Schools Annex Property on Jordan Road

Saline area officials including the Saline Board of Education the County Board of Education and the Saline City Council met to decide annexation of the Jacob Marion property on Jordan Road into the Saline Area School District. Action was made without delay despite discussion about waiting for Hammond School election on October 11. County School Commissioner Julius Haab attended along with board members Ben VandenBelt chair Grace Stierle Horace Whitney Carl Mast and George Schlecht.

Auxilary Meets At Legion Hall

The Wm. B. Lutz Unit No. 322 of the American Legion Auxiliary met September 28 with 31 members present. The president announced four members have new offices. others named to committees and radio work. The unit plans a Christmas gift project for hospital patients and a piano need.

Saline High Band Plans Beverages Themed Half Time Show

The Saline High School Marching Band planned a new half time show for the Dundee game after weather canceled the prior performance. The program features five songs with drink themed formations including Cool Clear Water The Drinking Song Pepsi Cola Tea for Two and Jersey Bounce. Student teachers from the university helped choreograph the routines. This Friday marks the last home game for a while.

Saline FFA Youths Selected for National Chorus

Kenneth Guenther and Gene Austin, Saline, Michigan, will travel to Kansas City October 7 for the Future Farmers of America National Chorus at the National Convention October 11–14. Both selected in state tryouts and July final, they join a 100-voice farm youth choir directed by Dr. James W. Hatch.

Farm Bureau Plans Southeast Regional Meeting

County leaders from eight southeast counties travel to Onsted High School on Tuesday October 12 for a regional briefing ahead of the December new member drive. Jack Lynn of the American Farm Bureau Federation will speak on national and international issues affecting agriculture and Washtenaw County plans a large delegation including about twenty from Saline.

Rotary Recreation Night Highlights Saline High School Event

Two Michigan 4-H dairy stars Alfred Harwood and Kendell Rogers earned state honors with the Champion Club. Harwood competed in Waterloo while Rogers heads to the International Dairy Show in Chicago. The Rotary Recreation Night at Saline High aims to entertain teens and adults and raise funds for the crippled children's fund with a movie, dance, and refreshments.
