Saline Kiwanis Club Organized Monday Gunman Manhunt

A violent manhunt spanned Michigan and Indiana after two Michigan troopers were killed and several others wounded. Victor Wayne Whitley, 26, of Granger Texas, was captured near North Vernon after a long chase, while the surviving gunman remained at large as police blocked routes and traded fire with deputies and troopers.

Saline’s 96th birthday honored for William H Barr

Saline celebrated William Henry Barr aging 96 with family at his home 550 South Ann Arbor Street. Born October 2, 1861 in Conners Creek he moved to Saline in 1873 and built his long time home. Barr helped build the Baptist Church and unearthed Indian relics and a mastodon tooth on his farm.

Saline Kiwanis Club Plans Charter Night October 11

The Saline Kiwanis Club held its first meeting at Martys Restorant with Bruce Cawkins presiding. Officers were elected including Bob Harrison as president and Loren Wild as vice president, as visiting Kiwanians from several clubs attended. Charter night will feature a dance and events on October 11.
