Luther C. Hamlin Rites Held After Tragic Tree Fall

Luther C. Hamlin, 62, of Saline township died from injuries after falling from a tree weeks ago. Born November 9 1870 in Yorktownship, he married Elizabeth Girbach in 1909. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Oakwood cemetery with Masonic lodge honors. he is survived by his widow, daughter Mildred, son Glenn, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Saline Telephone Company Moves to New Exchange Site

The Saline Telephone Company completed a nightly cutover from the Union Block on Michigan Avenue to a new building at 200 South Ann Arbor Street. After weeks of setup, cables were connected, emergency lines activated, and testing began by 5:30 AM. The move honored veteran worker Fred Koch, who died a week earlier from automobile accident injuries.

Mrs Celia E Briggs aged 77 died Saturday morning. She was born Sept 2 1855 in Saline and lived here all her life. She married Silas Briggs in 1874 in Ann Arbor and was a Methodist. Survived by husband Elroy Briggs of Battle Creek and three grandchildren. Lawrence preceded in death in 1920. Funeral at home Monday at 2 6 o'clock Rev Bertram Ede officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Jennie B. Wallace Dies at Home in Pennsylvania

Mrs. Jennie B. Wallace died last Thursday evening at her son Dr J B Wallace home where she had lived two years. Born July 29 1841 in Pennsylvania she is survived by four sons Samuel C Greenburg PA William W Ligenier PA Grover C Berlin PA and Dr James B Saline four grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral services were held in Ligonier PA with Rev Allan Martens of the First Presbyterian church officiating and interment followed at Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Remains were moved by Dietiker ambulance with Luther Briggs driving.

Catherine Gugerty 77 Dies in Saline Township Home

Catherine Gugerty aged 77 died Monday evening at the home of Miss Catherine Sears in Saline Township. Born May 31, 1855 in Pittsfield township she lived all her life there. She is survived by three nephews. Services will be held Thursday at Rabbit feed and other supplies sale at The Observer office.
