Universal Die Casting Plant Invites Ro tarians Visit

A visiting group from Ro tarians and guests toured the Universal Die Casting and Manufacturing Company. They observed three casting machines, a dozen punching machines, gas heated furnaces, and two daily shifts. The firm plans expansion with a new boiler room and has land for future growth. About 40,000 finished castings leave the plant daily.

Junior Farm Bureau News Highlights Local Meeting

Monroe County Junior Farm Bureau members attended Washtenaw Countygroup session with recreation and singing led by Dorothy Brown and Mildred Burmeister. Plans discussed include an overnight camp for Hillsdale Jackson Lenawee and Washtenaw counties in June and the State Farm Bureau leadership camp at Waldenwoods in August. James Bliss of the Michigan Elevator Exchange spoke on how the exchange operates. The next Junior Farm Bureau event is a joint skating party at the Ivory Palace in Ann Arbor on May 8 for members and guests.

Saline Pianist Irene Schwoche to Appear on WPAG Radio

Irene Schwoche of West Saline, renowned pianist in Washtenaw Lenawee and Jackson counties, will perform 10 minute piano melodies on WPAG Ann Arbor Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:05 PM. She has strong ties to Saline and local groups, and supporters are urged to send cards to the station in care of Irene.

Saline General Hospital Surgical Updates Through Weekend

Last Thursday Diane Van Est of Britton Richard Faust and George Fiegel of Ypsilanti had their tonsils removed. Mrs. Glen Conde of Milan had an appendectomy on Saturday and is doing very nicely. Mrs. Dale Leonard and her little son returned home on Friday. Little Marjorie Hieber had her tonsils removed on Saturday. Mrs. Louell Rheem and her little son Mrs. Kenneth McDougall and daughter and Mrs. Hargrove and daughter returned home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Daniels have a daughter born on Monday April 30. Ralph Mandelka of Mooreville had his tonsils removed on Monday.

Toledo optometrist Dr Frank Gifford conducted eye examinations at the Milan Hotel on Saturday from 1:00 to 9:30 p m. Glasses were fitted marking the 12th year of service in Milan.

John Maher Freed From Nazi Camp After Liberation

Dr and Mrs Gordon Prout learn by long distance call that their nephew John Maher has been freed from a Nazi prison camp after more than a year and a half. He is flown from England to the United States and will receive a 60 day furlough. health described as fairly good. Other families wait for word on relatives captured in December and still uncertain about their camps.

Mrs Walter Egeler Dies After Brief Illness

Mrs Walter Egeler 26 of Dexter township died Saturday night at St Joseph Mercy hospital Ann Arbor after a brief illness. Born Luetta Jedele March 29 1919 in Saline she married Walter Egeler March 6 1943 and lived at the Christian Stoll farm in Dexter. She was a member of St Pauls Evangelical church Chelsea survived by husband her father George Jedele four sisters and four brothers Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm Rev P H Grabowski officiating.
