Hussey explains Michigan once lay under warm shallow seas during the Jurassic, later forming basins filled with sand and lime before glaciers buried the peninsula. He notes giant plant eaters like brontosaurus reached 80 feet and lived centuries, swallowed pebbles for grinding, and that Texas may have been their last U S home after sea changes and climate shifts. The piece references Hussey's book Historical Geology and a Michigan artist John Jesse Hayes illustration.
