Alumni Banquet Speaker Christa Breitkreutz Aids Exchange Ties
Miss Christa Breitkreutz spoke at Saline High School’s annual Alumni Banquet about friendships from her German exchange. She arrived May 18 from Bel in Germany and plans a four month stay to study hospitals in the Berlin area and compare practices with the United States. She praised the Class of ’57 scholarship and thanked her foster parents Mr and Mrs George Wood.

New Saline High School Floor Plan Reveals Bond Issue Scope
The plan outlines a left side North Lobby entry with offices and nurses’ headquarters, a 44 by 45 library, adjoining work and conference rooms, and three rooms for typing bookkeeping and office machine training near the office. The proposals are preliminary, intended to help the Board and community visualize the project tied to the $1,650,000 bond issue approved for June 24.

The Saline Area High School plans 86,000 square feet built around a hollow square courtyard with light from an open central area. The design favors practical spaces over luxury, including a large gym with stage, a combined cafeteria theater, twelve classrooms, science and arts spaces, home economics, vocational shops, and potential future band facilities.

Two Saline Residents Involved In Accidents
Carl E. Corniel of 269 Harris Street Saline was in a two car crash with Jesse James Bird of 7415 Carpenter Road Ypsilanti. Bird was treated for a neck injury at Dr. Prout. George Mellanzac of Saline also involved with David Philyps Henning of 4451 Joy Road Ann Arbor. no injuries reported.

Man pleads innocent in Paterson parking case
Matthew Nowosad faced a charge of parking less than 23 feet from a street corner in Paterson New Jersey. He claimed a six foot ruler measured the distance but was fined five dollars by Magistrate Joseph J. De Luccia after the court accepted his measurement as 21 feet.

Saline High School Holds Commencement Exercises
Saline High School held its outdoor commencement on the football field at 8:00 pm with a semi circle seating layout. The program opened with Pomp and Circumstance performed by Katterjohn on the new organ, followed by speeches from Salutatorian Jane St Marion and Valedictorian Sally, with musical interludes by Sally Stimpson and Sally Haswell. Dr. Paul Miller of Michigan State University delivered the keynote, and diplomas were presented by Alvin Burkhardt on behalf of the Saline Board of Education.

Tomorrow night at 6 30 the Saline 12 year old team opens their season against Ann Arbor while the Babe Ruth squad meets Burns Park Wolverines from Ann Arbor in preparation for Huron Valley League play starting Monday. Coaches Tom Johnston and Ernie Steman expect strong turnout as all games will be at the high school field with the Babe Ruth team following the 12 year olds. The schedule lists home and away games through August 4 with matchups against Dexter Manchester Stockbridge Willow Baptists Lincoln Willow Run and others including four American National all star events.
