Icebreaker Commander Bernard Lauff Visits Milan Memorials
National figure Commander Bernard Lauff of the U S Glacier icebreaker attended Milan Memorial services on Thursday. He recently returned from an Antarctic cruise and the ship is in dry dock. The Lauff family arrived in Boston September 15 and later joined relatives in Ann Arbor for a reunion before traveling toward Washington planned for January.

The Saline Alumni Association sets a June 3 1957 banquet at 6 30 in the elementary school cafeteria served by St Pauls Church ladies. The program honors classes 1932 and 1907 with toastmaster Donald Jaeger and remarks by Charles Gross and class of 1957 president Charles Lindemann. A 9 30 dance at Saline High School follows with music by Bill Bottomley orchestra.

Fish Hook Strikes Man In Eye In Connecticut Scene
John W. Francis 47 of Willis was struck in the left eye by a fish hook on a line wielded by his son Robert 23 while fishing near Manchester Thursday. Francis was taken to Herrink Memorial hospital Tecumseh for treatment and removal attempts. The accident happened as they fished from a boat on Tron Creek Mill Pond in Manchester township when the son was casting.

George A. Heininger, 84, of 7171 E Michigan Ave Saline Township, died Thursday at St Joseph Hospital Ann Arbor after an extended illness. Born Sept 19 1872 in Saline Township he married Amanda J Pfitzenmaier May 21 1902 in Freedom Township. Survived by son Walter four brothers and two sisters. wife preceded him in death June 19 1931. He was a member of St Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church.

Daniel Roehm 78 of Saline township died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital Ann Arbor. He lived on his W Michigan farm since 1907 after three years in Bridgewater township. Saline baseball opened its 1957 campaign with two wins. They edged Garden City 8 to 7 at Wayne Field after 13 hits by Garden City. Next, Saline defeated Woodmen of the World 16 to 5 at home, piling up 15 hits. Saline Community Hospital board named for new facility
The Saline Community Hospital Association approved an administration board led by Ernest Girbach with Carl Schrandt as secretary and members Mrs Marian Hering and Arthur Moehn to oversee the forthcoming hospital. The board will select the administrator before building begins this fall. Applications for Hospital Administrator are due after July 1 to Carl Schrandt. Certificates of Membership in the Association will be mailed this month for every $100 paid to the hospital fund.
