Coins and Currency Exhibit At Rotary Club

The Rotary Club hosted an exhibit organized by C. A. Curtiss showing old and current U S currency. Highlights include shin plasters, Confederate bills, and wild cat currency from Washtenaw and Saline banks with signatures such as Ss Finch. Attendees included Corp. Jeanne Burkhart, Lt Fritz Schumm, Clyde Schikler, and Herb Frey. No meeting today.

June Dairy Month Observed by Michigan Officials

Commissioner Charles Figg praises Governor Kelly for declaring June Dairy Month as solemn recognition of Michigan dairy farmers. Milk production remains near last year’s level with more cows but less pasture. Weather, feed, and price uncertainty may reshape feeding and handling practices as farmers endure long hours to milk over a million cows.

Neighbors Urged to Return Deposit Bottles for Summer Demand

Michigan dairy beverage beer and grocery groups urge residents to collect loose deposit bottles and return them to the original stores for recycling. Spokesmen say thousands are hidden at homes and that sterilized bottles will be reused to meet hot weather demand.

OPA Orders Canner Sugar Supplys Stopped and Book Issuance Continues

The OPA suspends supplemental canning sugar allocations while local boards continue issuing Book 1 and Book 2 for babies until Book 3. Report lost ration books to the board and mail replacement applications to Detroit 10 days before replacements. Ensure tire inspection records are current before renewing B or C gasoline books.

Senior School Daze Class Night at Saline Auditorium

Tuesday evening June 1 the Senior Class of 43 staged Senior School Daze. Miss Mary Morden taught third grade lessons in a skit while Margaret Finch presided over a light hearted meeting. The cast included Faculty on Parade sketches, prophecies read by Virginia Luckhardt, piano by Dorothy Kohler, Marilyn Dietiker’s class creed, Florence Clark’s history, Margaret Finch’s poem, and gifts for each member. The evening closed with the class Will read by Harry Schaefer and the song All Hail Saline.

Juniors Again Win Citizenship Award at Commencement

The Class of 44 received four years of citizenship recognition at Commencement. Their president Marian Feldkamp accepted the silver loving cup from Mrs. Thomas Shurtz of the Saline Woman's Club, on faculty and Mr. Bearss recommendation for leadership, sportsmanship, and cooperation.

Daily Vacation Bible School at Federated Church

The Federated church and Sunday school sponsor a daily vacation Bible school at the church from June 14 to 19, 9 to 11 am. Rev. Harold DeVries of Grace Bible Fellowship will lead with object lessons. transportation by bus is planned for attendees lacking a ride. Call Rev. Red Cross Blood Bank Visit At St Pauls Church

The Red Cross Blood Bank will be at St Pauls church on Thursday June 24 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Merchants close Thursday afternoons to encourage donations. About 200 registrations are desired. Volunteers may phone Mrs Merritt Martin or Mrs Ben Uphaus to register. Urgent need for blood.

Dr John Muyskens head of the University of Michigan speech department commends the Class of 1943 at the Saline high school commencement Friday evening June 4 The event honors 44 graduates with diplomas presented by Clarence Cook as Glee Club songs and a marimba solo entertain the capacity audience Valedictorian Alice Klein and Salutatorian Charlotte Phelps outline the class’s readiness to face postwar challenges.

Summer School at Moody Bible Institute Announces Courses

Moody Bible Institute will hold a summer school from June 21 to July 23 in Chicago in two weekly sessions. Forty fifteen courses include child evangelism adolescent work music and missions. instructors G Allen Fleece and Wilfred L Burton join a 12 member faculty.
