Saline Salutes on Fourth of July in 1840 Epistle Retold
Saline celebrates a July Fourth in grand style with a 60 foot long banquet table, patriotic toasts, and a church ceremony led by Rev. John O. Birdsall. The event recalls the era with readings of the Declaration, an oration by Benjamin Risdon, and a citywide procession through Monroe and Chicago streets.
