Michigan State Farm Week Highlights Fun and Exhibits

Farmers Week at Michigan State University runs January 30 to February 3 with contests music and entertainment to give visiting farmers and wives a light hearted break from business. Exhibits from college departments including electrical displays chemistry demonstrations and a rifle shooting contest supervised by the military department accompany musical performances by the College Military Band and student groups.

Christina Henes Dies After Brief Illness in Lodi Township

Mrs Christina Henes 53 wife of Jacob Henes of Lodi township died early Monday after a brief illness. Born March 3 1879 in Saline township she was married Feb 13 1901 to Mr Henes. She is survived by husband parents five daughters six grandchildren three sons a sister and brother. Funeral services were held Wednesday at home and at St John’s Church with burial in St John’s Cemetery.

Obituary: Mrs Otilda Alber Dies After Illness

Mrs Otilda Mary Alber of Saline township died Friday at home on West Michigan avenue from diphtheria. Born June 30 1890 in Freedom township she lived all her life in Saline area. She married Herman Alber November 28 1912 and leaves husband four children parents and three brothers. Private funeral held Sunday at 2 pm at home with Rev C H Wittbrechtt. interment Oakwood cemetery. memorial service planned at St Paul's church later.

Red Cross Doleses Major Supplies for Wash Ten County

County Red Cross reports a large intake of sweaters 1,400 plus and flannel undergarments for adults and children, with more than 20 000 yards of material and 4 700 garments. A third shipment of federal flour arrived and is being distributed this month to meet county needs.
