Swindlers at Work in Hillsdale County
A Hillsdale widow lost 2600 of her life savings to alleged confidence men who offered perpetual burial rights in Crown Hill Cemetery in Ohio in exchange for her good securities. State police and Prosecutor Albert W. Dimmers Jr. opened an inquiry that may reveal more losses by local investors. The men promised two year profits before the cemetery scheme failed. Also reported, 20 year old Clinton driver Charles F. Kline was found dead in his cab near White Pigeon from suspected motor-fume asphyxiation after returning from Indiana Harbor. His death was confirmed by license and Boy Scout card found on him and he was returned to Clinton via Cassopolis and Manchester-Clinton.
