Saline Hornets beat Milan Reds 28 to 24 at home with a fast start. Wes Jahnke scored 10 points, Bill Koebbe 7, Dale Hirth 6 as a capacity crowd watched. Tomorrow night the Hornets travel to Dexter.
Public auction March 2 at 12 o'clock noon. Sale includes a 13 year old 3700 lb sorrel mare a herd of 13 Holstein cows 11% registered Holstein bull 11% age due July and multiple Holstein heifers calves yearlings and equipment from McCormick Deering including tractors plows binders cultivators rakes mowers and wagons plus hay oat corn silage potatoes and milk equipment. The Red Cross folded 2 025 surgical dressings in 269 hours last month. Willing Workers contributed 10 finished shirts and three wheelchair robes, plus one more robe by Mrs. Dora Brow. Sixty Australian bags are being rushed to completion by volunteers. Ed ward Clark hosts shirts and hospital gowns for sewing. A Roll Call begins March first led by Saline Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post.
Rotary Club meetings feature three strong programs led by chairman F. O. Wiedman. The 4th program presented Professor Gearhart, praised for Philippines service as teacher and adviser to troops and headquarters. Guests included Rotarians R. J. Schuler and C. L. Corrello of Milan.
Miss Rachel Bommer daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Bommer of Ann Arbor became Mrs Robert Gillen on Saturday in a ceremony at the Baptist church parsonage Ann Arbor Rev Loucks officiated The bride wore a white wool suit navy accessories and a shoulder corsage of red roses and sweet peas Attendants were Miss Sarah Bommer and Wesley Bommer A family reception followed at the Gillen home Mr and Mrs Bert Gillen They reside with his parents after the ceremony
