Rotarians at The Tavern last Thursday noon enjoyed a varied program focused on Youth Service with W H Dietiker presenting. Members shared readings or sentiments linked to Yule poems as Dr Clyde Ford of Ypsilanti Normal offered a tribute to Jesus Christ. Edward F Henne sang The Birthday of the King, and Dr J B Wallace read poems by James Whitcomb Riley. Luther Dicks and Richard Ward, guests, spoke briefly. Rev Bert Ede is set to speak today on Regrets and Hopes.

Protests Filed Over Rail Service Cut Between Ypsilanti and Hillsdale

Protests are to be filed against reduced rail service on the Ypsilanti to Hillsdale line, now two days a week. Petitions are being circulated to present to the Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington and the Public Utilities Commission in Lansing. Local agents report heavy freight, and residents urge action to stop further reductions despite railway profits.

Mrs Della Drake Dies At 83 In Benzonia

Mrs Della Drake aged 83 died Friday morning at her Benzonia home after months of illness. Born May 21 1853 in Lodi township she was the daughter of Governor Drake and lived in Ann Arbor as a young woman. Survived by niece Mrs Michael Sage and several other nieces and nephews. Body brought to Ann Arbor Monday and funeral services were held Tuesday morning with interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Saline Woman's Club Holds Christmas Party at Mrs Martin's

The Saline Woman's Club celebrated with a Christmas party at Mrs. Martin's home. The Fine Arts department led games and stunts under Mrs. Mark B. Sugden. Gifts were exchanged and ice cream and Christmas cakes were served. The next meeting is set for January 5 with Mrs. Dan Hall.
