Donkey Basketball Draws Saline Crowd and Boosts Funds

Last Tuesday night Saline residents watched a donkey basketball game featuring local boys. An unofficial report tallies about one hundred dollars raised with the high school receiving half to aid football injury doctor bills. The event included a standard game for the first half and a donkey match afterward, with ten donkeys and a baby bear interlude.

Willing Workers Holiday Gathering Shares Joyful Program

The Willing Workers club held its December Christmas party at Mrs. Kenneth Gordon’s home on December 17 with 53 attendees. A two course dinner followed a verse roll call, then readings, vocal solos, a Christmas contest, and Santa distributed gifts from a tree. The January meeting will be at Mrs. Mildred Lutz’s home.

Masons Install Wayne Lodge Officers With Local Help

Wayne lodge No. 112 F and A M installed its new officers Saturday with William Austin and Charles Koch aiding, Saline lodge No. 133 members. Homer Newton could not attend due to injuries from a car accident, so Koch filled in as installing officer while Austin served as marshal. A banquet and entertainment followed, featuring a sleight of hand act as headliner.

Misses Hertler Honor Newlyweds With York Dinner

Misses Mary and Bertha Hertler of York hosted a Sunday reception for newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Gerald W. Scheffler of Ypsilanti. A 6 o clock dinner for about 25 guests featured a blue Christmas color scheme and gifts for the couple. The bride Katharine Hertler is the former daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hertler of Ann Arbor. the groom is son of Mr. and Mrs. George Scheffler of Ypsilanti and works at Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti. Attending were relatives from Ann Arbor Royal Oak Detroit and Pittsfield among others.
