Saline residents plan Christmas Eve caroling in front of the school after church programs end. A community council committee lists favorite carols to sing regardless of church affiliation. Outdoors, a skating pond will be created in the school yard east of the building for chilly winter recreation.
Miss Edna Mae Doyle urges home accident prevention to aid the war effort. She cites high home injury and fatality figures and compares them with war losses, urging Red Cross classes in accident prevention to keep workers healthy and production uninterrupted.
The Detroit show sold 347 animals including 62 lamb pens and 161 steers. Grand champion lamb sold at 4.50 per hundred pounds, grand champion steer at 75 cents a pound for 930 pounds. Notables include Willard Schlubatis 15 Coldwater Shropshire winner and Keith Shaffey 16 St Johns with grand and reserve lambs.
The Federated Church hosts a Sunday evening service on December 19 at 7 45 led by the church youth with Dorothy Otto and Margaret Finch delivering messages. Mrs Milford Ruddock plays Hammond solo vox and the congregation will sing Christmas carols. All are invited. Dr. Frank Gifford, Toledo Optometrist, will examine eyes in Milan at the Milan Hotel on Thursday during these two weeks. After New Year, exams are offered on Saturday as usual from 1:00 to 9:30 PM. Office hours at the Milan office and hotel location.
J A Krug director of the Office of War Utilities urged Americans to limit Christmas lighting to inside private homes. He asked to skip street decorations, community trees, exterior home displays, and interior and exterior commercial lighting to conserve fuels and materials. He noted bulbs are scarce and no mandatory order was planned.
Farmers will gather in township meetings on Friday to select AAA committees to operate the program for another year. Township leaders will decide this week where and at what time the meetings will be held. Following the naming of township committeemen delegates from each township will be elected to attend the county AAA convention Saturday morning December 18. Delegates will name a county committee which will elect its chairman and secretary treasurer.

Scout Executive Walter Mac Peek of Ann Arbor spoke at the Rotary Club luncheon at The Tavern last Thursday. He cited scouting as aiding soldiers through training, reducing juvenile delinquency, and fostering internal discipline, noting many scout executives entered the armed forces after Pearl Harbor. Ernest G. Mann received his membership button as others welcomed him to the circle. visitors included C. J. Corrello, R. J. Shuler, and Rev. T. W. Parrish of Milan.

Beverly Ann Korte two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Christian Korte of Dexter died Friday at University Hospital Ann Arbor after being born October 13 at Saline General Hospital. Survived by parents and two brothers Ronald and Roger. Funeral conducted 2 pm Sunday at Lockwood Funeral Home with Rev H L Engel. entombed Oakwood Cemetery. Doctors noted the baby's heart was on the right side a rare condition.
Mrs Anna M LaShe 75 diedTuesday night at her daughter’s home in Detroit. Born April 13 1868 in Saline she married Joseph Clay in 1883. Survived by daughter Lucy and nephew Floyd Anderson. Funeral services were held in Ypsilanti Friday with burial in Albion cemetery Ypsilanti.
