John Wesley Hull longtime Saline leader and banker died Friday at Community General Hospital from injuries after an auto accident near his home. He chaired Citizens Bank board since 1902 and led the Saline Board of Education for over three decades. He was born July 23, 1842, in Saline township and left a legacy in hardware trade farming shipping and local public service. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church with interment in Oak Grove mausoleum.
Activity south of Saline led to test bores with little result while a severe blaze consumed four stores on East Michigan Avenue. The frame buildings, identical with gable ends, stood a story and a half high.
A Saline columnist appeals to Niethammer and Camburn about speeding on Michigan avenue and calls on mothers to slow traffic to protect children. He lists local tragedies and urges school support for football and athletics, warning that neglect risks further losses and the town’s youth programs.

Victim George Wackenhut 21 died after being taken to Clinton physician’s office. Finkbeiner arraigned. bond set at 1000. examination scheduled September 8. Wackenhut survived by parents Martin and Mrs. Wackenhut and sister Edna.
The state requires all house to house canvassers to collect the 3 percent sales tax on every sale and remit monthly. All peddlers must register as licensed dealers, pay a $1 registration fee, and display a license card on their vehicle. A $50 monthly deduction from gross sales applies.

It promotes Avicol Tablets for poultry and announces nearby auto shop services Wiedman Auto Company West Side Garage and Holstering and spray painting. Also mentions rabbit orders and personal stationery at The Observer office and a Fordson tractor priced at $40.
