Two thirds of the Rotary club attended the Sand Lake annual summer outing with the Rotary Anns. Mrs Alwin Gross won first prize in the fishing contest followed by Mark B Sugden. A contraband long catch was returned. The group then shared a potluck supper at State park and played ball before returning home.
William Acton born October 20 1867 in York township son of Alfred and Catherine Acton pioneer residents. He worked on the farm then learned blacksmithing in Saline later life. Married December 1 1891 Lydia Hartman two children survived. Funeral services were held at home Sunday afternoon Dr C M Kircher officiating with interment in Oak Grove cemetery.
Mrs Cora M Klopfenstein expresses gratitude to all who assisted during Walter A Munroes sickness beginning Oct 17 1932 and after his death for comfort and aid.
Farmers met in the Saline high school auditorium to form a wheat growers committee. The group, led by county agent Osler, will help residents complete wheat reduction bonus cards using acreage and yield data from 1922 1931 and 1930. Cards are not contracts and may be revised before signing.
Forty two relatives attended a dinner August 13 at the Boettger home in celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Rev Adolf Lederer presided over a service and guests brought monetary and gold gifts.
Last year the National Red Cross declared the flood of hardship a national disaster and Washtenaw County Red Cross distributed hundreds of clothing items flour blankets and sheets with a total value around 21000. Saline received goods and flour. This year local funds continue support and yard goods undergarments stockings and sweaters are available to prevent want among children and women.
Visitors from nearby cities attended a Gillen family gathering at the Gillen residence for the 15th birthday of Bobby Gillen. Notables present included Harold Lee, Mrs. Ruthy Rouse, Grover Gillen, Bertram ard and daughter Sister, Mrs. Agnes Van Duzer and Margaret, Roy Witherspoon, and Emmett Kelly. The celebration ended as hosts ran out of cake.

Also lists poultry breeds and New Idea Farm Implements with local dealer support in Pipestone Minnesota and Springfield Vermont.
A local ad lists Standard Petroleum Coke White Star Petroleum Coke Koppers Miami Coke Koppers Pocahontas Koppers Elkher Dundon Red Ash and other coal products for sale. It also asks residents with legal printing needs for estate settlements to contact the Observer through the Probate Judge to publish notices at universal rates.
