The State Bar of Michigan plans to publish its legislative study findings after a year of work by a governor appointed committee. Attorney Albert Blashfield said extensive analysis compares Michigan procedure with Nebraska and Ontario systems. He noted pay scales affect legislative caliber and suggested a constitutional revision or convention may follow the full report.

Dr. Eugene D. Crittenden, son of Mrs. E. Crittenden, is promoted to chief of research for the nitrogen division of the Solvay Process Company in Hopewell Virginia. A Saline High School graduate, he earned a BS at Michigan Normal College and MS and PhD in chemistry from Columbia University. He married Melita E. Feldkamp in 1920 and they have two sons Eugene and David. Eugene is a Purdue student and Navy assignment.

Missouri to Host Japan Surrender Ceremony in Tokyo Bay
The 45000 ton USS Missouri will anchor the historic surrender on August 31 1945 in Tokyo Bay signaling the end of World War II in the Pacific. Fleet Admiral Nimitz and General MacArthur will sign for the United States and the Allied forces. Missouri was launched January 29 1944 with keel laid January 6 1941 at New York Navy Yard.

James Richard Spike Dies After Long Illness
James Richard Spike age 17 of 9705 Marion Road died at home after a long illness. Born June 19 1928 in Ypsilanti township he was a Roosevelt High junior. Survived by parents six brothers and three sisters and one brother Robert who died in 1939. Funeral Tuesday at Federated Church Chelsea with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Attendees listed from Saginaw Detroit Kalamazoo and other places. Community picnic planned at Saline Fair with Kiwanis support.

Saline Man Involved In Atomic Bomb Work Recalled
Clark Spike, a chemist in Chrysler's analytical lab, helped in the atomic bomb effort and knew of it. He was transferred to Evansville, Indiana, and is now home after being called by illness and the death of his brother James.

Driver Held On Charge Of Intoxication
William Genkes of Detroit was thrown from a cab of a overturned semi truck on Hall street at East Michigan Avenue. He was rushed to Sa line hospital with facial and head injuries and charged with drunk driving. The truck carried 15 tons of scrap drums and metal. the load spilled on the sidewalk as the trailer overturned. Traffic officials warn that higher volumes and restored speeds since gas rationing end increase accidents and hazards at Michigan avenue and Ann Arbor street.
