Future Holds Bright Promise of Peace Rotary Talk

Chairman William Brittain introduced Helmut Stern of Ann Arbor as guest speaker at the Rotary Club meeting at The Tavern last Thursday noon. Stern offered a scholarly view on peace problems to come, citing the San Francisco conference as likely to yield a more stable world though smaller European nations may not reap full benefits due to dependence on larger neighbors. He warned against further world conflict if the five big nations uphold San Francisco ideals, noting the Balkans under Russian influence and other regions under future powers. The gathering included a moment of prayer for peace, songs honoring service members, and two new Rotary members, Badgley and Gilligen, joined by guests from Ann Arbor and Milan.
