Ellsworth Luckhardt Earned in Pacific Air Campaigns

Sgt Ellsworth A Luckhardt a crew chief with the 13th AAF in the Pacific has flown 40 night sorties in B 24 liberators sinking one Japanese ship and dropping 250000 pounds of explosives. He and his crew standby for immediate takeoff on landing and wear the Asiatic Pacific campaign ribbon with three battle stars. He attended Forbes school and worked at Saline Valley Farms before enlisting in 1942 and going overseas in December 1942.

Extension Groups Meet At North Lake

About 60 women from county extension groups enroll for a five day session at North Lake starting yesterday. The program includes refinishing furniture sewing for Red Cross and illustrated lectures with speakers from Michigan State College and county health staff.
