Rotarians Learn Of Life in CCC Camps

Milton Cappy Gross told Rotary Club members at The Tavern how CCC camps started in 1938 to provide outdoor work for youths. He described supervision by U S Army officers, a focus on forestry and construction, and daily routines from dawn to night with schooling and crafts.

Mary Ellen Waffle and John Stimpson Wed in Royal Oak

License Plate Flood At High Tide Hits State Capital

During nine working days from July 27 to August 6 at Lansing, the Department of State received an average 26 504 applications for 1936 motor vehicle plates, totaling 238 582 for the period. The rush followed August 1 deadline for second installments, with added volume from new car buyers.

Rev William Breitenbach Named Pastor at St James Church

The Rev William Breitenbach has taken residence at St James parsonage and begun duties as pastor of St James Evangelical church Saline township. Installation will be during morning worship Sunday August 16 with Rev Otto Papsdorf conducting. Papsdorf resigns after nearly thirty years as pastor and becomes pastor emeritus after over 55 years in Evangelical Synod ministry.
