Ford School Under Construction Here
A Ford School is being erected on West US-112 opposite the large white mill. It replicates the Hoyt district school but without a belfry, measures 24 by 36 feet, and sits on a brick foundation with white siding. The project uses mostly new materials with eight by eight inch timbers, and a rear building will house heating, cafeteria, and toilet facilities. Henry Ford, turning eighty on July 30, visits and supports local employment as 52 workers are employed between the mill and related facilities. The Hoyt school history is reviewed, noting its age, closed status since 1916, and a legacy of local teachers, pupils, and the DePuy and Hoyt families.

Silas L Briggs longtime resident dies after short illness
Silas L. Briggs aged 72 or 74 died Monday afternoon at Highland Park General Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 38, 1852, son of John and Lucinda Briggs, he is survived by son Elroy of Battle Creek and a grandson and granddaughter. Body at Lockwood's funeral home. Funeral arrangements pending.

Alfred Briggs of Saline township dies at 82
Alfred Briggs of Lodi township died Thursday afternoon at Ypsilanti State Hospital after a short illness aged 82. Born November 1860 in Saline township, he was the son of Hiram and Charlotte Parker Briggs and lived his life in the area. Surviving brothers Elroy Briggs of Ypsilanti and Wilson Briggs of Ann Arbor. Funeral services were held Monday at Lockwood Funeral Home with Rev. William H. Bach officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
