Miller kin hosted at Whitmore Lake with relative visit

Steve Miller spent two weeks with his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Miller at Whitmore Lake. Betty Haeussler, who had been working at Doctor Miller's office, will leave August 11 for California to make her home there. Mrs. Kathy Hoeft is in St. Joseph Hospital for two weeks.

National Model Airplane Championship Opens at Willow Grove

Ronald Wolfe of Saline among 1500 entrants at Naval Air Station Willow Grove Pennsylvania for the second National Championships. The world series of model airplane flying continues through August 4 with contestants from 48 states Canada Mexico Puerto Rico and a South African competitor. The Academy of Model Aeronautics governs the event with the U S Navy hosting for the tenth year.

Escapees From Waterloo Prison Camp Captured Near Saline

Two escapees sought to steal a car from A. and M. Chevrolet in Saline last Wednesday. They fled into woods but were captured at 6 am Thursday after State Police troopers from Ypsilanti Jackson and Clinton Posts set up a roadblock near M292 and US 12. Theodore Ebersole, 27, Lenawee County, and Robert McMillan, Detroit, had been reported missing from the camp.

Pedestrian Signals to Rule Crossing at Michigan and Ann Arbor

A new combined street light and traffic control system is being installed at the Michigan Avenue and Ann Arbor Street intersection. Three of four corners will have tall Edison poles with traffic lights set mid height to regulate autos and pedestrians. Pedestrian boxes will display green Walk and red Stop signals, with enforcement plans not yet finalized.

Milk Producers Group Wins 35c Price Boost

The Michigan Milk Producers Association reports a 35 cent rise to five dollars per hundredweight after a Monday meeting. Dairies including Twin Pines and 23 others in Detroit area agreed to the increase and to join the Detroit pool system. If deadlines were missed, milk would be diverted to Warner Dairy at Adrian and other Detroit milk to Imlay City.
