Michigan to Have Ten Government Tree Camps

Michigan plans ten government forestry camps as part of a state program. The camps include four in the Huron National Forest at Glennie Silver Creek Mack Lake and Tsuraman and two in the Hiawatha Forest at Kentucky and Steuben with Ottawa Forest sites at Kenton and Paint Lake. It is unclear if the camps will be staffed by the 2100 recruits at Camp Custer and recruitment plans may come from state welfare relief directors.

Saline Man Seriously Injured In Auto Crash North Of Milan

Fred Koch, returning from Milan, was seriously injured when his car left the road about two miles north of Milan striking a signboard and ending in a ditch. He was alone and found by passing motorists, taken to St. Josephs Mercy hospital in Ann Arbor, status semi conscious, skull fracture not yet determined. The car is declared beyond repair with extensive front end damage.

Clover Time Junior Play Delights Home Folks

Friday night the Clover High School juniors staged Clover Time after postponements. The melodramatic vehicle featured Johnny Burg as Stumpy and Leonard Niethammer as the villain with Vera Bde as the heroine. All players and coach Miss Golda Morford received praise for creditable performances.

Bowling Tournament Under Way at Saline Recreation

The Saline championship bowling tournament began last Thursday at Recreation Lanes. A handicap event, first round results include FitzGerald over Gillen, Gall over Tanner, D Burkhart over Brown, W Burkhardt over Martin, Lawrence over Harmon, C Haarer over Tescher, Dusterbeck over Ash, with Haarer and Grunewald earning byes. Second round sees Haarer defeat C Haarer and S Gall defeat D Burkhart. finish expected by next Thursday with champion announced.

Washington D C The Saline Boy Stouts junior rifle club earns a National Rifle Association charter. Mrs Margaret S Spears 82 Dies at Daughter’s Home

Margaret Sophia Spears aged 82 died Wednesday at her daughter Mrs David Schneiders home in Freedom township. Born August 7 1850 in Saline she lived in Saline area and is survived by two sons Charles Spears of Saline and George of Ypsilanti, a daughter, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, a sister Mrs Fred Tony of Lansing, and brothers William Sweet of Saline and Frank Sweet of Milan. Funeral Friday at 2 at the daughter’s home in Freedom with Rev C H Wittbracht officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
