The Sutherland school will host an evening at Pittsfield Grange hall on Friday April 24 with music by the Cow boys. The event aims to raise funds or community gathering opportunities.
D G Helfrich chief engineer outlines growth from 700 to over 3300 inmates and notes 125 missing workers due to defense plant wages. He reports 40 million gallons of water softened annually and 150000 gallons pumped daily, with 50 miles of heating pipes. Secretary of State Harry F. Kelly declares in a letter to the state press that he is a candidate for governor. He cites the duties of the chief executive in normal times and during the national crisis and reconstruction period that would follow.
The city council of Saline Michigan adopts amendments to sections three and twelve of the building ordinance dated July 10 1941. The changes require permits with plans for new or altered buildings and set fines or jail for unpermitted work. Public notice states the amendment takes effect fifteen days after publication in The Saline Observer.

The county rationing board appointed a committee to supervise sugar distribution. Members are Lee Tescher Arthur Heininger Mrs Gordon Anthony and Hubert A Bearss. All sugar sellers will meet at the school at 9 a m Tuesday April 28 for instructions. Inventory work and registration details require time.
City council met in the council rooms with Mayor Gross presiding. Members Schroen Haarer and Lambarth attended. John Schleh appointed to finish John W. Cole term. Minutes approved. Bills of 1692.86 authorized. Building code amendment to be published in The Saline Observer. Townline road from Michigan Ave to city limits to be black topped. Meeting adjourned.
