Commissioner Charles Figg cites meat shortage driving illegal calf killings under four weeks for sale. Miles A. Nelson reports inspectors uncovered violations of slaughter and sale laws for immature calves and issued warnings against selling calves under four weeks. War Relief Clothing Drive Urges National Aid

April named for a clothing drive for war relief coordinated by UNRRA and voluntary agencies. The campaign aims to collect 150 million pounds of wearable garments, shoes, blankets and linens. Saline General Hospital reports Joe Salazar of Milan underwent an appendectomy on Thursday. Ronald Howell of Willis and Kenneth Bartel with Doris Hall of Britton had tonsils removed on Saturday. Mrs Cosmas Nagel and infant daughter returned home on Sunday. Mrs Theodore Adiska and infant son and Mrs Virgil Bryson and daughter returned home on Wednesday of last week. Dale Leonard and wife welcomed a son born Tuesday April 17. Lois Allerdyce of Milan, Shirley Turner of Dexter, Harold Gramer and Edward Cammet had tonsillectomies on Tuesday. Fred Brenson and Wilber Coe remain about the same.

Veterans Transport Committee Forms in Saline

A veterans transportation group is organized at the request of Col. Philip C. Pack director of veterans affairs Lansing and with the Automobile Club of Michigan.
