Garden Advice on Worm Control and Planting in Early Season

If your garden was sod last year expect cut worm trouble and treat soil with a poison ball before planting. Mix one ounce Paris green with one pound bitter greens and apply at dusk. Create tar paper discs to protect cabbage stems when setting in fields next week. Watermelon muskmelon cucumber and squash seeds may be sown in strawberry boxes or plant bands in a hotbed now and next week.

Saline Woman's Club Discusses American Humor Meeting

The Saline Woman's Club met April 3 at Mrs Edwin Hering's home with good attendance. Under Mrs Walter MacArthur the group heard a program on American Humor directed by Mrs Martin Fucss. Members discussed fund drives for UNRRA clothing and a pool at City Park. Guest speaker Dr James Brett Kanna of Ann Arbor will speak April 17 at the Methodist church.

Saline Brothers Reunite After World War II Service

The Hartman brothers Willard and Milton share a brief Easter weekend reunion at the Hartman home after Willard, wounded in Germany on December 16, arrives for hospital care at Fort Harrison, while Milton returns from the South Pacific coast guard service for a short leave. Saline Rotary Guests Discuss Leadership In Animal World

Rotarian A Franklin Shull of Ann Arbor spoke to the Saline Rotary at The Tavern last Thursday noon. He argued that all life forms determine leadership and speculated that Germany may eventually adopt the right methods to gain a proper place in the world. Guests included former teacher Henry Burgess of Reese Roy Dechert on furlough Grover Edmond of Chicago and J E Norman of Detroit.

Saline General Hospital reports births for a Bryson daughter born on April 1 and a Adiska son born on April 1 with mothers and babies returning home midweek. Milan residents include another April 1 birth to Mr and Mrs Theodore Adiska, and later a April 5 daughter to Mr and Mrs Cosmas Nagle. Mrs. Caroline Visel 57, born in Stuttgart and married to Jacob Visel on March 28 1885, died Tuesday. Survivors include four daughters Mrs Seitz Chelsea Mrs Volz Saline Mrs Kern and Res.
