Dial Telephone Service Upgraded In Saline By August 15

District manager William Beagle of General Telephone Company announces a Saline dial exchange by August 15. Area technicians will start next week changing over phones to the Hazel 9 system plus four additional digits. Existing numbers will remain on the apparatus until the dial system activates.

State Delegates Named for Wolverine Girls State

Judy Hunt and Nice Sheehan of Saline High School were chosen as alternates for Wolverine Girls State 1958. Hunt, editor of the Hornet, honor society member, and church choir participant, and Sheehan, flutist and cheerleader, are active in band and student activities. Session dates are July 17 to 27 at Stockwell Hall on the university campus, with about 360 attendees.

Cross Board Meet and Red Cross Programs Announced

The Spring Board Meeting of the Bhtenaw County Chapter of the Red Cross will be held April 18 at 6 15 pm in the Metella at the University of Michigan hospital. Dr Herbert E Sloan will discuss heart battery developments and there will be other important Red Cross items. Members will visit the blood bank at the hospital. Also noted are social mentions of local residents hosting visiting relatives.

William H Judson Found Dead in Ann Arbor

William H Judson a former Saline Hotel manager was found dead in his car in Ann Arbor Sunday. Neighbors saw him back his car into the garage and a hose led from the exhaust into the ventilator window. Doctors said death by his own action and the coroner confirmed. A note was found for his wife on the kitchen sink.

Easter Sunrise Service at St Pauls on Faster Morning

The annual Sunrise service will be held at 6 30 at St Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Church. It is sponsored by St Pauls youth groups with cooperation from the Methodist and Federated Churches. A production titled This Rock portrays the Resurrection story with cast members Mary Burr Susanta Coates John LaRue Jr Kenneth Volz Jr Richard Johnson and Robert Brown. It is directed by Mrs Mildred Haswell of Saline High School faculty. Garry Armbruster Robert Prey and Erwin Feldkbmp handle staging lighting by John Parsons Carol Brown prompter and worship services by Bonnie Fritz Carol Schiller Livya Girbach.

Mrs Cox Elected Chairman of Washtenaw Polio Board

Mrs Joseph H Cox of Ypsilanti was elected chairman of the Washtenaw County Board for Infantile Paralysis at the annual meeting March 24 in Ann Arbor. She previously served as secretary and vice chairman and led the 1955 March of Dimes drive in Ypsilanti.

JCC Voter Registration Drive Reaches Saline Area

The Saline Junior Chamber of Commerce led by Bruce Ahrend conducted a house to house survey and canvas to register voters. They reached 108 unregistered voters and 17 with expiring eligibility, about 60 percent of unregistered Saline residents, with 16 JCC members participating.

Girl Scouts Sell 60 Cases of Cookies

Saline Girl Scouts conclude their cookie drive with Troop 1 selling 24 cases from 16 girls, Troop 2 with 13 members selling 10 cases, Troop 3 with 8 girls selling 23 cases, and Troop 112 with 2 members selling 3 cases under Mrs Katz and Mrs Miller.

Break‑in at Universal Die Casting Co parking lot

Police investigated a break in at the Universal Die Casting Co lot on Monday afternoon. Lucy Turner reported her car entered, vent window pried, horn ring broken, but no items missing.
