Death of Jesse Palmer veteran of Civil War dies at 5:45 PM
Jesse Palmer died at his home 625 North Smith avenue after a year and a half of illness. Born in Indiana November 30 1845 he served three years and four months in the Civil War with the 26th Iowa Company B. He married Lucretia Eastman December 23 1869 and lived in Maquoketa county Iowa eight teen years then Portland and St Johns since 1908. Surviving are his widow ten children and eighteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church Sunday at 2 PM with Rev A B Layton and LO C F in charge. Interment at Columbia cemetery by St Johns Undertaking Co.
