City Council Mulls Street Upgrades and License Matters

The council met in session with all members present to discuss widening Central avenue to eighty feet and condemnation. Other items include arc light at Central and St Johns, liquor license renewals, planking London Bradford street, oiling Salem street dust, and feasibility studies for hard surfacing Crawford and Pittsie streets to connect with the ferry. The skating rink Sundays were reconsidered, two two hour sessions approved, and a hydraulic engineer to assist in water rate case. Polk Street improvement and New York Street/St Johns Heights proposals were placed on the agenda, plus a claim over Macrum Avenue and various bills, including police peacekeeping, were approved. Speed limit increased to fifteen mph and related ordinance amendments referenced amid protests from gate owners and drivers.
