Free trip to Chicago for 4-H potato contest winner
Thadeus Pellegrin of Houma, a 4-H club member, won a free trip to Chicago in November for the third annual LSU potato contest. He produced 122.85 bushels of marketable Irish potatoes on one-fourth acre, using 300 pounds of 6-10-7 fertilizer and 150 pounds of nitrate of soda as side dressing. The total potato value was $70 with a $52.85 profit after seed and fertilizer costs.
