Louisiana Evergreen Shallots Grow Year Round
Plant Louisiana Evergreen shallots by dividing stools during the cooler season from now through February. The evergreen variety does not produce true seed or dry bulbs for propagation, but increases via “creer seis” plants. Plant in rows on a ridge, pull and divide for sale, and harvest for fresh tops when other green onions are scarce. It resists pink rot disease and complements Red Creole and Louisiana White Shallots for year round harvest.
