Linemen Hudsons Worry Northwestern in Tech Line

Ruston Leader reports Louisiana Tech relies on linemen Hinton brothers Bobby Hudson Jerry Hudson and Joe Hinton to bolster a rugged line. The four form Tech's first unit, contributing to a stout defense that has limited opponents to 26 points in four games while the Bulldogs average around 195 pounds on the line. Bobby Hudson, 220 pounds and a Minden High graduate, tops Tech's line. Joe Hinton, 195 pounds, is Ruston-raised and tied to Tech legends Pat and Tommy Hinton. Jerry Hudson, 1987 graduate of Springhill High, is the right end and a top defensive contributor. all are key in looming showdown with Northwestern State.

Junior Winners At State Fair Get Prize Money

SUREVEPORT Winners in the Junior Class exhibits at the Louisiana State Fair receive extra cash awards from United Gas equal to one half of the prize money paid by the Fair Association. The 1959 Fair runs Oct 23 to Nov inclusive. United Gas has issued these awards since 1942 to boost junior participation with over 700 winners from 51 parishes last year. Individual checks ranged from 50 cents to 75 dollars.

Mississippi State Included on Buberc Basketball Schedule

Louisiana Tech announces 1959 60 basketball slate featuring eight states teams and Gulf South Classic participation. Tech, Gulf States Conference champion with 9 1 record, hosts 12 home games and one on the road, opening December 1 at Ruston vs East Texas State. Southern Bell seeks Supreme Court review for fair treatment

Southern Bell asks Louisiana Supreme Court to authorize rate relief and earn more on its investments, arguing current Louisiana Public Service Commission rates are unjust. The company contends other regulated utilities earn about 50 percent more and that the PSC misapplied regulation, seeking to restore a just and reasonable earnings rate above 4.07 percent.
