McKnight Prominent at Cotton Meet in Alexandria
H L McKnight, secretary of the local chamber of commerce, chaired the planning committee for Louisiana promotion of cotton use at a Friday conference in Alexandria that formed a state-wide organization. The group urged ginning cotton in bags, packing agricultural products in cotton containers, and selling cotton by net weight. A board of directors will organize soon, with Wilson as acting chairman, and a resolution praised the federal farm board while opposing changes to the marketing act.

Blackberries Cultivated By Lincoln Parish Farmer
J. E. Mitchell of Lincoln parish near Ruston with seven miles Farmerville road grows about three acres of blackberries this year. Based on last year’s crop he expects a ready market when they ripen next month. A specimen in the parish agent’s office shows the hardy plant and green berries about twice the size of ripe wild fruit. Mitchell buys plants, sets rows and wire frames for support, selling the berries locally.
