The Home Demonstration club met with Mrs. Lamar Cargill and Miss Stone to study jelly making with a jelly demonstration. The Antioch school held a Friday picnic and graduation program with certificates, speeches, and songs. Several local families and students are noted for diplomas, visits, and community events across Antioch and nearby areas.
Mr and Mrs WA Winfree of Gay and Mr and Mrs Charlie Stokes hosted guests Sunday afternoon. RB P Whitman and children from Ruston visited Lon Stephens family. Most attended Simskoro High School commencement exercises. Carl Bellow and Mrs W J Helton hosted Sunday guests. Mary Winfree and Carl Nivee of Ruston visited the Slokes. Mrs Chester Grinsby and children visited Mrs Clare Plover at Wesley Chapel. Bessie Riser of the Riser Line Community spent the weekend with Mrs L P West and family.
Mrs. Low Here and Family Visit Douglas area residents and relatives gather for a weekend visit in Mone. John Honewell and Melvin Holstead hosted J A Baker family and Nena Baker of Law Tech with granddaughters Helen, Luise, Lucile Baker of Ruslan. Guests included Chis Rinehart and son John, N B Ford of Histon, Roy Ezelle of la Tech. John Hennen visited last week. Erle Mount and Luther Farrey, Wauglas school teachers, returned home after the Base visit.
Greenwood Jallian Wilson, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Clyde Wilson, died Monday at her grandfather W H Graham's home. Funeral services were conducted at Pine Grove cemetery by Rev Michel. Several attended a school picnic at the park last Thursday and enjoyed the day. Miss Dorothy Nolan spent Friday night at Viera with Misses Rhetley and Hammons. Miss Hazel DeFreese has come home for the summer. Mr W J DeFreese and Mr and Mrs W K DeFreese of Shreveport spent Sunday with Mr J M DeFreese and family. Mr and Mrs J J Crawford spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs George Holloway. Miss Armor Harrison spent Sunday night with Miss Bernice King. Those attending the cemetery working at Cooktown Saturday were Mr and Mrs G C Gustafson, Mr and Mrs Ross Beard, Mrs W B Hughes and Mr Leonard Gustadsen.
Several residents attended the senior class commencement at Hico High School auditorium last Thursday night. Mr and Mrs Alvin Burgess of Dubach visiting W I Burgess Jr and family. Graveyard work and memorial service planned for Corinth cemetery on Saturday May 23. Sympathy extended to the family of Claude Broughton of Athens, who died recently in a Shreveport sanitarium.
Commencement events spread over three evenings in the CHS auditorium. J W Shofner presided as 31 graduates received diplomas with remarks and scholarships. Miss Lauren Gable and Mrs Godrie Thurman visited. Claud Copeland and Truitt Burnside were noted visitors from Ryton.
Dr Alfred Hall of El Dorado Arkansas accepts head of the music department at Louisiana College Pineville. He will begin duties with the summer session opening June 9. Hall, born in London England, has earned distinction in the magical world wherever he has been.
The Ruston region saw a string of visitors and relatives from Monroe Rayville Strawberry Arkansas Jayville Clay Bethany West Monroe and Beth as families gathered for Sunday visits graduations and social events. L. B. Richmond Mrs J Kirk and Glavia Belle hosted gatherings while Dr. J. B. Michmond H. M. Bagley Adrian Clinton and the ONeal family were among those mentioned. Dorothy ONeal and Doig Auids figures linked to local events attended the graduation.
Mrs Warren Ambrose and son Herbert of Douglas visited Sunday with Mr and Mrs Watson Green. Mr ot M Hammons of Hopewell visits relatives this week. Earl Colvin and son of Spencer spent the weekend with J L Green. Willie White, former Le Baructh Springs teacher, is at home with her parents. Mrs Kama Sherman returned from Simshora after visiting relatives. Mrs S W Robbing of Monroe spent the weekend with her parents, Mrs and Mrs W T Shields, accompanied by Mrs Kennedy and five children. School closed Friday for a fish fry. Teachers Miss Myrtis Saint and Gladys King returned to their homes in Ally and Wesley Chapel. Mrs Attie Grant of Sibley visited her daughter Mary White last week. Miss Lila Calhoun visiting parents in Shreveport sanitarium training.

Mrs Earl Grigsby and Miss Edith McGuire visited Mrs Johny Beard and family Tuesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Ray Ledbetter of Coushatta spent Sunday with their parents, Mr and Mrs M J Ledbetter. Those attending the graduation exercises Thursday night in Monroe were Mr and Mrs Tom Adams and Mr Ardis Howell. Mrs Henry Pesnell has been very sick. Her friends wish her a speedy recovery. Max and Ms Henry Pike and family hosted weekend guests Mr and Mrs Killings and family. Miss Lylvia Willis is at Linthe for the summer, her school at Antinch having closed May 15.
Mrs. Carl Skier and daughters Miss Bernice Mrs G B Gall and baby Obra Jr from West Monroe were the guinsts of Mrs. Jess Alexander Monday.
Blue Ridge My and Mrs Charlie Pat Prazier visited Dubach Tuesday evening. Willie Frazier from Ruston spent Tuesday with Luther Praviey and family and with J M Halstead’s sister in Choudrant. Mrs Arnold Pruett of Dubach visited Saturday with her parents, Wu and Mrs B T Ferguson. Lavance family spent weekend with Mrs W H Edwards in Roanville. Ferguson family and Luther Frazier’s guests included Eugene Liner Nealy May and Chas P Frazier in Dubach and Bernice.
Dodd College Shreveport announces May 31 1931, commencement speaker Mrs W J Cox of Memphis leading Southern Baptist women. Dr A L Burns cites Cox’s rise from Tennessee Baptist women president to Southern federation head. Northern speaker Dr R A Ashworth to address May 28 7 30 pm broadcast by station RWKEL.
A Braided Mrd from Tabador to Natal, South Africa, is reported in a strange passage. An Albuithe dern flew across the route and a bird was found dead near Natal on November 14, valued at 929 dollars.

Peter Gaar, 55, noted Negro character long employed by the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage and later ran a store in Washington Heights died Tuesday afternoon at his home. A familiar figure on the business street selling peanuts, he was well liked by both white and black. Funeral services were held this afternoon with interment in the cemetery south of town.
Walter Wella and crew set out from Plantic City in October to cross the Atlantic. After covering 50 miles in 70 hours the ship was wrecked off Cape Hatteras, but the crew was rescued.
D L Limsford, state highway safety expert, says losses from highway department accidents near 300000 last year. He notes workers compensation at 60000 and 19000 less than state insurance, and reports a drive with First aid training and artificial respiration to reduce accidents and lessen their severity. In three months, accident percentage dropped about half.
