McFarland Post No 2 American Legion met to hear Capt E L Kidd recount his personal reminiscences of the Spanish American War. Kidd, former commander of Company F, 1st Louisiana infantry, gave causes and key events with personal Ruston experiences. A rising vote of thanks followed, and he was invited to speak again on other war aspects.

A Knoxville fire in the city business district destroyed four buildings and killed four people. In Nashville Tennessee on March 20 a young white man robbed a suburban drug store. He worked the counter and served customers while stealing 140 dollars from the safe. He bound proprietor J. New Orleans plans for a new uptown girls academic high school, costing more than $500000, were submitted to the Orleans Parish School Board. The building on Clatonne Avenue between Nashville and Joseph will house 1000 pupils with four large laboratories, an auditorium with dual entry, and dedicated space for household arts.
