A early morning blaze at Dubach destroyed the new high school building, likely sparked by lightning hitting wiring. Firefighters from Ruston arrived too late to save the structure, with 3 fatalities and 2 injuries reported as the grammar school on the same grounds remained undamaged. The new brick concrete and steel storage warehouse at the northwest corner of Carolina avenue and Monroe street in Ruston is nearly finished under contractor L Mitchell for B H Rainwater. It measures forty by ninety feet and backs onto the Rock Island railroad right of way. Completion is set for April 1 with a 12 month lease to Ruston Motors for storage use.

Five Antioch residents killed in Simsboro crossing crash
Five Antioch men were killed or seriously injured when a Mitness Central eastbound passenger train struck their Chevrolet sedan one mile east of Simsboro soon after nine this morning. Ledford and Smith died at Ruston-Lincoln Sanitarium. Holloway died later. Hedgepeth relatives noted. The injured were taken to Ruston hospital. funeral plans set for the two dead at B. F. McLure parlors.

Four Garland City men are charged with malicious cruelty for allegedly cutting off the ears of a horse and a cow belonging to an aged negro woman. The accused are Raymond Plant J B Plyu Pred Plant and Verndy Gern dalla. Local white residents prompted Sheriff Fleet Magee to arrest them after reporting the incident to temperance.
