Annual Southern Farm Forum Set For New Orleans

The Annual Southern Farm Forum will be held in New Orleans January 23 and 24. Ralph Brown, secretary of the New Orleans Forum Committee, outlines forums on adjusting production for future needs with industry representatives. James D. Sayers 69, a novelist and newspaper columnist, died May 3 at Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Teelinboll officiating. Funeral Services For Miss Hixie Davidson Held In Shreveport

Miss Hixie Davidson sister of the late V A Davidson of Ruston and sister in law of Mrs Davidson died after a brief illness and heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a m in Shreveport with burial in Greenwood Cemetery Ruston. She was a longtime active school teacher in the Caddo parish system and is survived by relatives in Lincoln parish.

Lincoln Has Only Forest Fire In Dec

Lincoln parish forest ranger Frank Gibson said he could eat Christmas dinner at home for the first time in ten years and there was not a forest fire in the parish on Christmas Day. One small grass fire occurred in December from a trash fire near the Lincoln Jackson parish line in south Simsboro. Gibson urged residents to be careful with trash fires as such fires cause about 95 percent of serious forest fires.

Aged Man Found Dead In Yard Near Ruston

An elderly man living alone near the Union parish line on the Farmersville road was found dead in his yard by neighbors early today. Dr J Thomas Fateh Lincoln parish coroner ruled natural causes, estimating the deceased as about 75 to 80. The body was moved to Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Neighbors said he had recently sold his estate to a Rayville man and had no nearby relatives. Investigating officers included Dr Bennett Chief Deputy Symington and Deputy Wilbur Williamson with Union Parish sheriff's deputies.
