LSU 100 Years: Growth From Seminary to University
A 1960 look recounts Louisiana State University’s evolution from the 1860 Pineville Seminary of Learning Military Academy to a major state university. It notes presidents, campus moves, student growth to over 8,000 undergrads in Baton Rouge, medical and law schools, and ongoing expansion with new buildings and facilities. It highlights uniforms once worn by cadets, state support rising to about $23 million, and 42,495 degrees awarded in the first century.
