Last Major Segment of I-20 Route to Shreveport Stated
Louisiana Highway Director Ray W Burgess announced that two bids will be received April 26 for a segment of new Interstate 20 between Ada and Arcadia in Bienville parish. One segment runs 6.7 miles from the Ada west end US 86 interchange to the Gibsland area. the other runs 6.3 miles from Gibsland east to near Arcadia. Plans include grading drainage structures overpasses and concrete pavement with several interchanges to aid Gibsland Arcadia access. Construction times are set at seven months for Ada to Gibsland and 24 months for Gibsland to Arcadia. Burgess noted I-20 will eventually run from Mississippi to the Texas border and that other nearby stretches are advancing.
