Gilles Villeneuve and the Drive to Risk All
An opinion piece reflects on Gilles Villeneuve 1952 1982 and the fatal crash that ended his life. It questions the allure of speed in motorsport, cites past fatalities, and critiques auto makers safety promises while noting the human impulse to push machines beyond limits. It ends with a wary view of any lasting safety gains for the public and the impact on Villeneuve’s son Jacques.
