Russell Air Cadets Squadron 677 conducted its annual inspection on May 11 1982 at the Canadian Forces Base Portage la Prairie with Lt Col George Francis Dean overseeing. Awards promotions and completions followed a supper at St Marys Church with a year end camp planned at Shellmouth Dam June 4-6 in collaboration with Strathclair Squadron.

RCMP to Train 19 Students in Youth Crime Prevention
Nineteen university students will gain first hand experience in crime prevention and law enforcement through summer employment with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Eleven women and eight men become Special Constables on May 10, 1982, wearing RCMP uniforms with student insignia and working under experienced officers to learn about youth problems and law enforcement.
