The City of Rusk announces a plan to improve U S Highway 84 by installing concrete curbs gutters and storm sewer work from Sycamore Street to Pate Street under a Texas Highway Commission contract. A hearing is set for June 20 1967 at 7:00 P M at City Hall to discuss assessments abutting property owners receive a voice in costs benefits and validity of proceedings. The notice cites Chapter 106 of the Acts of the 40th Legislature and Vernon’s Texas Civil Statutes 1105b.
The Garden Therapy Committee of the Rusk Garden hosted a picnic and nature walk at Jim Hogg State Park for its May 24 1967 regular meeting with the Iris Garden Club of the Rusk State Hospital. Iris Club members, patients at the hospital, enjoyed fried chicken deviled eggs potato salad beans pickles cake punch and candy. Members helping included Mrs Louis Penney Mrs Esther Mae Durett and Miss Falge Black with other club members Mrs Marvin Roten Miss Ida Fisher and Mrs Imogene Marshall assisting.
