Wanted man nabbed after theatre check scam in Roswell
In Roswell New Mexico deputies captured 18 year old Fred T Connell after a spree of using a stolen credit card and writing bogus checks to fund car and gas purchases. Four teens were linked to the operation including two girls and another boy. Connell faced four counts of obtaining property with intent to cheat or defraud and one fraudulent check count. bond set at $2000. preliminary hearing held.

Fireman survives close call in Reliable Radiator Shop blaze
A flash fire at Reliable Radiator Shop 425 E Second St totaled a 1956 Ford wagon and damaged the building interior. Two employees escaped unharmed while Fireman Robert Simcox, dazed after stepping on a burned electric line, was saved by a fellow firefighter. Building owner is D L Savage. Fire trucks 2 and 3 responded.
