Eleven Drownings In Two Lake Superior Wrecks
A Lake Superior collision near Brush Colorado killed three and left seven or eight injured as a passenger train rear end collided with a freight, with Rainbow car wrecked and several passengers hurt. Separately, eleven crew members died when the steel steamer Seyona wrecked on a sand island in a northeast gale, while twenty two on board reached shore after a night afloat. Survivors endured great hardship before rescue.

Fire in Havre destroys business district in incendiary blaze
A fire in Havre Montana last night destroyed the restaurant where it started and the adjacent Paul Hotel along with several other buildings. Officials estimate losses may reach 150000 dollars. The blaze is believed to be the work of an incendiary aimed at total destruction. The rest of the town reports other notes including farm product exhibits, school openings, and an upcoming Old Settler picnic excursion.

Attempted lynching in Butte ends without execution
In Butte Montana at three this morning a mob of over 100 stormed the jail to lynch James F Barnes who had killed Patrick Hanley after a minor argument. Deputies with rifles held the corridors while deputies sought dynamite men. Barnes, from Chico California, has prior prison time for a shooting in Chico. Hanley was a popular local miner.
