Local fatal incident report from Butte Montana notes Elbert King died after a fall. Authorities investigated the scene and dispatched emergency responders. The case is under review by local police with no further details released.
Dr A M King of Lakewood received word that his brother Elbert J King was killed in an accident at Butte Montana. The body will be brought to Roswell for burial but arrival time is unknown. Elbert was a Roswell native who attended local schools. His father lives near the city and his brother moved to Lakewood last winter. Many friends regret the death.
The treaty provisions set peace, define Manchuria and Korea roles, cede Sakhalin south, share railway operations, protect private rights, and renew trade pacts. Separately, unrest flares in Baku Kishineff and Moscow. Tokyo crowd clashes follow peace anger. Witte leaves Portsmouth amid new inquiries into insurance law.

All parties with contracts with the Roswell Canning Factory for tomatoes are asked to call at the factory to arrange delivery with Superintendent Mr. Frank Rheinholt. Truck growers or farmers without contracts but with tomatoes for sale should also call Mr. Rheinbolt to discuss sales. 59tf.
District court clerk C M Bird said the term opening at Carlsbad would be short and the Portales term easily disposed of. He noted the Roswell term is expected to be unusually lengthy. Bird is considered a helpful official who assists Record Reporters with news.
Arkansaw Bob and Kernel Smith with T. A. Phillips of St. Louis arrived last night from Muskogee I T now their home. They are on a prospecting visit. Col. Smith formerly congressman from Yellville Arkansas held that position when he earned the titles.
The Old Settlers' Committee has arranged a 9:30 a.m. Roswell departure on September 7 for South and Spring, returning in the afternoon after the reunion. No charges. One coach remains for ladies, with sufficient box cars for all.
A social gathering for church members and newcomers at the church this evening aims to help attendees get better acquainted. New members visitors and strangers are especially invited to attend.

The wool market is less active but remains firm in Boston on September 5. Consumers large and small absorb wool at full market values, with steady demand for three-eighths and higher grades from Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Oregon. Fleece wools are generally strong.
Topeka officials report suspected systematic theft by Colorado telegraph operators acting as ticket agents. Several thousand dollars in tickets have disappeared from the railroad in months. James Foster, Lamar night operator, is jailed on theft charges, with another operator held at Las Animas. Traveling Auditor Foster is in Colorado reviewing ticket office practices.
Berlin reports thirteen new cholera cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours, totaling 90 cases and 26 deaths. In Hamburg a third case was found today in the business and hotel district, marking another urban instance.

New Orleans dated Sept 6 reports that apart from Lake Providence and Tallulah in northern Louisiana the yellow fever situation shows favorable signs. Mosquito destruction measures appear successful with no new cases in the forty four squares where the fever first began in the prior twenty four hours.
Former Governor Frank Black appeared as counsel for the Equitable Life Assurance Society before a joint legislative committee in New York as it opened an investigation into life insurance conditions. Black stated that the company had nothing to conceal and no one to protect and that it would aid the inquiry fully.
The institute opened this morning with about 80 cadets present and 50 more booked to arrive. Transportation delays slowed southern arrivals. entrance exams filled most of the day, and the opening exercises were brief. Management hopes to settle into regular work promptly.
