Recreational Development To Be Discussed

Long range planning for recreational development and wildlife preservation in the Pecos river basin will be discussed at a joint meeting tomorrow. Joe Sneed Dies At 64 In Amarillo Home

Joe Sneed 64 a prominent cattleman and chairman of the directorate for Texas Tech at Lubbock died at his Amarillo home after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the family home.

Washington October 15 plans speed up warplane output for United States and Great Britain by standardizing manufacturing on similar fuselage and construction while keeping accessories separate. Dr. Luther E. Stein of Glen dale California will keynote the Christian Endeavor State Convention in Roswell from October 24 to 27. Dr. S. J. Advance Work Tomorrow In Chest Drive

Preliminary work in the Trio Chest drive will start tomorrow as a 12 man team leaves pledge cards with business firms for distribution to employees. Employers will hand out the cards for employees to fill and return when the main push begins next Tuesday October 22. Paul Wilmot campaign chairman urged full cooperation to push the drive to completion. About 400 letters with pledge cards were mailed last night to individuals not tied to downtown firms.

Odd Fellows Rebekahs Elect Officers in New Mexico

E C Kibbe of Elida named Grand Master of New Mexico Odd Fellows and Mrs Annie Thompson of Albuquerque elected president of the Rebekah Assembly as annual meetings close in Albuquerque. Other officers include Gordon Lucas, J B Stamp, W T McAdams, and retiring leaders Glover and Higgins. The 1941 meeting site to be chosen, installation set for 3 PM, open meeting at 7:30 PM, grand ball at 9 PM.

British Win In Sea Fights With Italians

The London admiralty reported Ajax heroic exploits helped drive Graf Spee to doom in a 14 hour running gun battle off South America on December 13. The cruiser sank two Italian destroyers and crippled a third during a wide Mediterranean sweep. No contact occurred between main British and Italian fleets. Ajax fought alone.
