Convicts seize Jalisco prison after mass uprising
Riot at the fortress-like Jalisco state prison left 13 inmates dead and rebels controlling most of the facility while security forces regrouped. Prison director Parra said control was restored in parts, but inmates still roamed the interior and demands for food, jobs, medical care and living conditions were stated by inmates claiming collective justice.

Hijackers give up in Frankfurt
A man and a woman employed by CSA Karlovy Vary hijacked a domestic jet to Frankfurt and sought asylum. After two hours they surrendered to police, were to be arrested for endangering airline transportation, and the Yak 40 returned to Czechoslovakia with passengers and crew.
