Bakersfield Calif Oct 3 AP searchers in Tehachapi area hunt for more victims of Finlays cloudburst that swamped canyons with a 45 foot wall of water. Death toll believed near 40 with eight bodies recovered and thirteen known dead. Dozens of unidentified itinerants rumored swept away. Names recovered include Louise Kadd and Peter Kadd and their son Peter Kadd Jr. Also Nell H. Cooper and several others reported missing.

Missing cadet found after El Paso flight alert

A cadet had not arrived at El Paso and assistance was asked to locate him. A later telegram at 8 45 announced the cadet had been found.
